Universal Confirms 7 MAJOR Additions for Its NEW Texas Theme Park

Universal just released more details about the first-of-its-kind theme park coming to Frisco, Texas! This new theme park is designed for families with young children and is expected to open in 2026.

Universal has been hard at work on new experiences! Epic Universe in Orlando will open on May 22nd, 2025, and a year-round horror experience is also coming to Las Vegas. But that is not all. Universal is also working on a theme park in Texas!

Universal Kids Resort will be located on 97 acres off Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway in Frisco, Texas. It will be about 1/4 the size of the Orlando parks, but there will still be lots of fun experiences! In addition to the theme park, Universal will also be building a 300-room hotel on the property.

We just got more insight into what to expect at this brand-new theme park. Universal Kids Resort will feature lands themed around beloved characters, including DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek, Puss in Boots, Trolls and Gabby’s Dollhouse; Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants; Illumination’s Minions, as well as Jurassic World.

The central hub of Universal Kids Resort will feature shady lawns and interactive play areas. There will be lots of space to rest, play, and meet characters like Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse. There will also be numerous areas where visitors can interact with some of their favorite characters!

Over in Shrek’s swamp, there will be a themed playground where kids can stomp, ride, and laugh as they play in an area personally built by Shrek.  SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, Sandy Cheeks, and Squidward will show visitors around their neighborhood. Visitors can earn their boating license and relax on the beach while enjoying nautical, nonsensical delights.

There will also be lots of laughs as visitors enter into a vacation retreat. One problem, though, is that the Minions have taken over the peaceful vacation retreat, and now the Yellow Minions are trying to rein in the Purple Minions. Visitors will be able to take part in an unpredictable, water-soaked competition featuring the Minions.

Visitors can also head over to a Jurassic World-themed area to come face-to-face with dinosaurs. Young explorers can take part in an exhilarating adventure that allows them to explore the world of dinosaurs in unique and interactive ways. There will also be an area dedicated to the Trolls. The area will be joy-filled and glitter-filled, just as you would expect. Visitors will join Poppy, Branch, and the rest of the gang to unite their voices.

There is even more, though! Visitors can join Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, and Perrito at a kitty adoption drive complete with decorations, sideshow games, rides, and festive food. There will also be a sensory garden that is perfect for recharging in between adventures.

There will be no lack of things to do while visiting Universal Kids Resort. The new theme park will allow kiddos to interact with their favorite characters in innovative, new ways, and we can’t wait to see what else is coming to this new park.
