Well, You Certainly Don’t See This in EPCOT Every Day!

We spotted the most unique way to trade pins around EPCOT’s World Showcase and it’s proving to be pretty popular!

Pin trading at Disney World

We’re constantly on the hunt for the best ways to proudly display and trade Disney pins at home and in the parks. Now that pin trading with Cast Members has finally returned, Disney World has introduced fun characters to pin trade with and you won’t believe the crowds they draw!

While strolling EPCOT’s World Showcase something shiny caught our eye. Now, at first we couldn’t see much past the crowd of people crouching down in the streets of the U.K. pavilion so we decided to come closer for a better look. It turns out that a trash can was what all the fuss was about!

Meet Pinster, one of the pin trading trash cans at Disney World. Pinster has a pin collection ready to trade on 3 sides of his bin and is aptly named for his appearance as World Showcase trash can.

Pinster seems to be a hit with both the young and young at heart as we witnessed folks of all ages gathering around to look at the pins it had up for trade. Pinster was accompanied by their companion Cast Member who seemed eager to assist in the trades as needed.

People of all ages willing to trade

When we asked the accompanying Cast Member to learn more about this unique approach to trading pins around Disney World he mentioned there are two other trash cans (Pinelope and Pinoccle), who also roam around and offer pins for trade.

According to the Cast Member, there’s really no particular time you should expect one of these pin trading trash cans to come out and trade, but you’ll want to keep a keen eye out for them in case you happen to be in the right place at the right time. We happened to spot Pinster about mid day rolling around the U.K. Pavilion so you might want to be on the lookout in this area around the same time if you’re hoping to trade soon.

Keep a lookout for these!

We can’t say we’re totally shocked by this cast of characters in Disney World. This isn’t the first time we’ve encountered famous trash cans in the parks. EPCOT is also home to a trash can with prerecorded phrases and sounds (whose home used to be at the former Future World’s Electric Umbrella), and in the past, we’ve even had a chance to meet PUSH, the talking trashcan around Magic Kingdom.

We’re hopeful we will spot these fun trash cans on another visit in the near future (and don’t worry; we’ll be prepared to trade next time!)
