SURPRISE Reopening! A Popular Magic Kingdom Store Is BACK in Adventureland

A popular Magic Kingdom store has reopened, and Tortuga Tavern has returned to its original name.

When construction began at the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Magic Kingdom, the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar gift shop was moved into Tortuga Tavern and the quick service restaurant received a name change to Tortuga Treasures. Well now, Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar has reopened!

Back in July, Tortuga Treasures had its grand opening in Magic Kingdom as a retail space selling Pirates of the Caribbean-themed merchandise. While you could still see the bones of the quick-service restaurant, Tortuga Tavern, the space was transformed to hold a “fine selection o’ pilfered and plundered loot.”

Well, Tortuga Treasures is no more, and Tortuga Tavern has officially returned…kind of. While the merchandise has been moved back into the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, Tortuga Tavern isn’t currently serving food.

We are curious to see if the restaurant will begin serving food soon and if it will serve as a cookie spot during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party which starts on November 8th.

Construction is still on-going in the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, but the Pirates of the Caribbean themed merchandise has been moved back into the exit of the attraction.

While Disney hasn’t officially confirmed the location of the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge, we have been speculating that it might be built in this area. For now, though, if you are looking for Pirates merchandise, you will find it amongst the construction walls at the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean!

The new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is expected to open in 2025 in Magic Kingdom, although we don’t know the exact location yet. But it would make sense for the Pirates of the Caribbean themed lounge to be next to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
