We’re talking about being chosen to be the Rebel Spy on Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. Star Tours can be found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World and Disneyland. In the Star Tours: In case you don’t know a Rebel Spy is selected at random from the ride’s passengers and appears on a video screen in the cabin. But how do you get chosen?
There are a few things that you can do to increase your chances of getting chosen for the Rebel Spy, but ultimately, it is the Cast Member’s choice. So it wouldn’t hurt to be kind and friendly to your CM — although, you should do that anyway!
To increase your chances, head to the ride during lower wait times when crowds are few. Basic math says the fewer people in your vehicle, the higher the odds are that you’ll be chosen.
Another thing that could help you stand out is when you’re wearing a celebration button or wearing Star Wars gear. This isn’t a guarantee as you might not be the only person with those things, but they could help!
The biggest tip that helps you get chosen is having your face visible and clear when the Cast Member is picking. This means while others might be looking down at their seatbelt or adjusting their bag under their seat, you should look forward and be ready!

I finally became a rebel spy 3 years ago. I was so excited that at the end of the ride I wasn’t looking where I was going as I was saying to my family “it was me” and banged my leg against one of the seat arms. I had a massive bruise on my thigh by the next day, but luckily because it was January I could wear jeans or leggings to cover it. So glad it didn’t happen in the summer as I couldn’t have worn shorts!
I will be celebrating my birthday and Anniversary in Fall 2025. I’ll laugh if I get chosen or my hubby.
