REVIEW: Why We Keep Going Back to This Disney’s Hollywood Studios Restaurant

Heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon?

Hollywood Studios

There’s lots to do at this Disney World park including wandering through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. Don’t miss out on riding Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror, Rise of the Resistance, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and more. But when you’re ready to grab a bite to eat for lunch or dinner, you might want to wander down Commissary Lane to ABC Commissary!

Background

ABC Commissary is a quick-service restaurant themed to popular ABC network shows. The restaurant offers mobile order on the Disney World app which is a nice perk especially during high-demand times like lunch and dinner!

ABC Commissary

It’s a studio-inspired commissary with Art Deco flair and food options that are outside the typical theme park fare. A while back, there wasn’t much to write home about here, but since somewhat recent updates, it’s one of our favorite places to grab a bite, especially at Hollywood Studios.

Atmosphere

ABC Commissary is a bit of a hidden gem as it’s tucked away on Commissary Lane behind the For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. Next to ABC Commissary is the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater.

Commissary Lane

It’s like you’ve stepped into Hollywood as you walk down Commissary Lane and into ABC Commissary. Once you step into the restaurant you’ll find photos of celebrities, posters of your favorite shows, and more palm trees.

Inside ABC Commissary

It’s a chill atmosphere that gets you away from the hustle and bustle of the park and into some great air conditioning.

Food & Drinks

As we said, food options here vary from the typical cheeseburger and hotdogs of theme parks. You’ll find Shrimp Tacos, a Chicken Club Sandwich, Mediterranean Salad with Chicken, and more here. It’s a nice change of pace especially if you visit the Disney World parks often and looking to mix things up.

ABC Commissary Menu

When we stopped by we grabbed the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich which is grilled sourdough toasted with buffalo chicken, Monterey, provolone, cheddar, and cream cheese. It’s served with a side of buffalo sauce and your choice of side. We picked a pack of apple slices for our side, but other options include black beans, Mexican rice, steak fries, Arugula-Farro salad, or mini Babybel snack cheese. You can get this meal for $11.99

Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich

We love this sandwich and get it time and again. It is a little heavy because of all the cheeses that come on it, but it’s delicious. You get the buffalo flavor without it being overly spicy which is nice. The sourdough toast is perfectly grilled every time giving it a great crunch. This is one of Sage’s favorite meals at ABC Commissary!

YUM!

We also ordered the Kids’ Pork Taco which is pork carnitas on a flour tortilla served with Mexican rice and black beans with queso fresco. You also get your choice of small lowfat milk or small Dasani bottled water. This kids’ meal is $7.79.

Kids’ Pork Taco

The kids’ taco is a bit plain with only the pork on it, but the pork does have good flavor. If you’re looking for more pizzazz with your taco, the adult Shrimp Tacos are great and come with crunchy purple cabbage, chipotle mayonnaise, and mango salsa. The adult meal also comes with the rice and beans which are both pretty good. The beans are both creamy and savory thanks to the queso fresco on top.

The kids’ taco is plain, but the shrimp tacos are great!

We’ve also gotten the steak fries as a side here before and we love them! These are pretty much the only steak fries that Emma likes.

Magic or Tragic

Magic

  • Try ABC Commissary if you want something outside of the normal cheeseburger and fries.
  • If you like buffalo chicken, then we think you’ll love the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich.
  • The menu also includes a plant-based California Burger which is great for those with alternative diets!

Tragic

  • If you or your kids are picky eaters who enjoy cheeseburgers or chicken strips, this is probably not the restaurant for you.
  • ABC Commissary might be a little hard to find, but the map on the Disney World app is a great tool to get you there!
  • If you’re looking for something with a bit more flare and more theming, you might want to try another spot.

Rating: 7.86 / 10 Recommended By: 91%
Menus: Lunch/Dinner
Services: Quick Service

A lot of readers like the options here, how clean the restaurant is overall, and that there is a drink machine so you can fill your own drinks and get refills. Sometimes the line can get long here, so we definitely recommend using mobile order during typical lunch and dinner times.

Overall, we continue to enjoy ABC Commissary and hope you do too! For more Disney news, keep following AllEars.

  1. I’ve heard good things about ABC Commissary lately and want to try on my trip later this month. In years last, this was a place to stay far away from! I love the Art-Deco, old Hollywood vibe!!
