The NEW Problem With Staying at Disney's Wilderness Lodge

When deciding where to stay in Disney World, you have to do your research!

People often choose hotels based on factors like price, location, or transportation offerings. But one really important factor you have to consider when booking is construction! If your hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment or update, it can be a PAIN to deal with all that construction.

Recently, we’ve seen this as an issue at spots like the Grand Floridian (where there was a major refurbishment) and the Polynesian Village Resort (which is getting a new addition). And now, it might be a problem at another hotel!

Disney World’s website has been updated with a refurbishment warning on the Wilderness Lodge page. Currently, the hotel is undergoing some “exterior refurbishment work.” Those staying at the resort may see and hear construction work during daytime hours.

There’s an additional note that horseback riding is temporarily unavailable next door at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground due to construction. Horseback riding may be available on Saturdays and Sundays during this time, but you’ll need to check the My Disney Experience app the Friday prior to check for availability and reserve a ride.

In the past when hotels have done refurbishments, we’ve seen things like scaffolding and scrim on the exterior of the buildings, and construction crews have been out during the daytime. Sometimes this construction affects the pathways around the resort, but if you have questions, the Cast Members at the hotel should be able to help you.
