Huge changes are coming to Genie+ starting TOMORROW!

If you are headed to the parks soon, you need to know about the changes coming to Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane system.
Disney announced back in June that the current Genie+ system will be replaced by Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass beginning July 24th, 2024. That’s right, we are only one day away from this huge change!

Beginning tomorrow, guests will be able to start booking their Lightning Lane reservations through the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass system. A huge change with this new system is that you will be able to book your selections in advance. However, for selections on July 24th, you will still only be able to book them beginning at 7AM on July 24th.

Make sure to stay tuned to AllEars as we will be providing LIVE coverage of these new systems. We will have reporters in each of the four parks testing out these systems and providing you with all the details. We will be making selections, using selections, testing out park hopping, and more. We will be covering it ALL, so stay tuned!

Let’s talk a bit about what this new system is all about. We know that it is called Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, but how does it all work? We’ve got you covered!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass
First off, Lightning Lane Multi Pass has many similarities to the Genie+ system, so don’t freak out too much. Similar to Genie+, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a paid service that allows you to bypass the standby lines using the Lightning Lanes. You will utilize the My Disney Experience app to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and make your selections.

However, unlike Genie+, Lightning Lane Multi Passes can be purchased before you even arrive for your Disney World vacation. For each day you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass you will be able to make up to three advanced Lightning Lane selections at the park of your choice.

These selections can be made three days before your trip OR if you are staying at a Disney World hotel you can make these selections up to seven days in advance of your check-in day for your entire stay (up to 14 days).
When making your selections for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you will be able to make up to three selections. However, there will be two tiers of attractions and you will only be able to select one ride from the “choose one” tier. Then you can pick two rides from the second tier, or all three from the second tier. Tiers will be utilized for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Currently, there is not a tier system in place for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

If you want to find more details about the tier system, check out our full guide to the new Lightning Lane system for a full list of which rides are included in which tier.
Once your park day comes and you use a Lightning Lane selection, you will be able to make another selection in the My Disney Experience app. Each time you use a Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection, you will be able to make another selection so you are always holding three selections.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
In addition to the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system, there will also be the new Lightning Lane Single Pass system. This system shares similarities with the Individual Lightning Lane system currently in place.

With the Lightning Lane Single Pass you will be able to purchase up to two single passes per day for some of the most in-demand attractions. The attractions that are a part of the Lightning Lane Single Pass system are not included in the selections for the Lightning Lane Single Pass. If you want to utilize the Lightning Lane for these attractions, you will need to purchase a seperate Lightning Lane Single Pass for them. The following attractions are part of the Lightning Lane Single Pass system:
Magic Kingdom
EPCOT
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The window for Lightning Lane Single Pass is the same as for Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Three days in advance, unless you are a Disney World hotel guest, in which case you can book seven days in advance.

Both systems will utilize variable pricing, so prices will change depending on the demand. When you go in to purchase your selections in advance, you will be able to see the pricing.

Both of these new systems go live tomorrow, so if you are headed to the parks soon you will want to figure out when you are able to make your advance selections (seven days in advance for Disney World hotels guests, three days in advance for others.) If you will be in the parks tomorrow, you will be able to make your selections beginning at 7AM ET. As well, if you have a trip scheduled within the next three days (or seven days if you are staying at a Disney World hotel), you will also be able to make your selections beginning at 7AM.

We will have reporters in all of the parks on July 24th to provide you FULL coverage of these new systems. We will be putting these new systems through the ringer and taking all of you along with us. Additionally, we will be testing these new systems out again as a Disney World hotel guest later. We are committed to providing you with the very best coverage of these new systems and we are here to make sure all of your questions get answered.

If you want to learn even more about Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass ahead of their launch tomorrow, we also have a full video dedicated to these new systems or you can also check out our full guide to them on our blog.
We are preparing to bring you along every step of the way tomorrow and in the coming days. Our reporters will be in every park tomorrow to provide the most comprehensive coverage, so make sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest updates on Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass!
