The Unexpected Magic Kingdom Crowd Trend on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Opening Day

The day we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

The newest attraction in Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, has officially opened. Now we’ve already seen a preview of this ride, but we are so excited that everyone now has a chance to ride it. As you can imagine, we expect things to be a little busy in Magic Kingdom today, but just how busy? Well,  let’s find out.

We’ve been watching the progress of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ever since Splash Mountain closed to be re-themed into the new ride. From the details about the critters inhabiting the new ride to the jaw-dropping animatronics, we’ve been getting more excited every day!

Now that opening day for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has arrived, how has that impacted crowds in Magic Kingdom? Well, as you might expect — things are looking pretty busy!

Be prepared to wait!

We headed over to Frontierland and saw a huge line at Golden Oak Outpost. It looks like everyone is trying to get their hands on Tiana’s world-famous beignets.

Long line at Golden Oak Outpost

As much as we love beignets, we wanted to check out the crowds at the actual ride. And, while they were certainly long, they weren’t quite as chaotic as we expected. It seems Disney is managing the virtual queue and Lightning Lane pretty well for the opening.

And, if you’re looking to shop for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure merchandise, you’ll have to deal with crowds there, too. Things got a little busier once we headed to the Emporium to get a look at the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure merchandise. The line there was back to an overflow area with Cast Members managing things.

The merchandise drop for the ride is very well-organized and calm, though, even though there are lots of people inside the Emporium.

So you want to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? There are only two ways to get on the attraction at this point — via Virtual Queue or through Genie+ If you want to go the costless route, AKA the Virtual Queue route, you will have two chances to join the Virtual Queue at 7AM and 1PM. Note that you can only hold one Virtual Queue per day. You’ll do this through the My Disney Experience app — we’ve got a full guide on the Virtual Queue process for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure here.

The other way to nab a spot on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is through Genie+, which was priced at $29 per person for Magic Kingdom today. However, there were no more Lightning Lanes available through Genie+ for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure by 7AM this morning either.

  1. I don’t understand this crush of humanity for the merchandise. They’re acting as if it’s only available for one day. I don’t this mindset.
