FIRST LOOK: Something NEW Is Coming to Disney's Haunted Mansion Bar

A nostalgic Disney Easter egg is making its way to the high seas!

Disney has provided occasional updates for the Disney Treasure, the latest cruise ship to join the Disney Cruise Line set to launch in December this year — and it looks like we’ve got a new one! A special addition is being installed in the Haunted Mansion Parlor!

The Haunted Mansion Parlor will be a lounge aboard the Disney Treasure and — you guessed it– will be themed after Disney’s famous Haunted Mansion attractions. As it was just announced this week, part of that theming will include the bust sculpture of an iconic Disney Imagineer!

The bust is modeled after the famous Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump and was revealed on February 27th, Rolly’s birthday. Crump, who passed away last March, played an integral part in the creation of the Haunted Mansion attraction.

Crump came up with the concept for a “Museum of the Weird” when the Imagineers were designing the original Haunted Mansion. His designs included a melting candle man, which serves as inspiration for his Haunted Mansion Parlor bust.

The bust was made at Walt Disney World and depicts the Rolly look-alike with a melting face on one side and a memorial plaque that reads, “BROTHER ROLAND- FOREVER REVERED FOR EMBRACING THE WEIRD.” The ode is incredibly fitting, as the Haunted Mansion Parlor “will be imbued with Crump’s unique brand of humor and is a proud continuation of his legacy, celebrating the weird and the fantastical,” according to Disney.
