April can be a very finicky month for Disney World.

Why? Well, April is typically a month that’s FILLED with spring breakers from all over the country. It’s one of the busiest times in the park, and for that reason alone, you’ll want to beware the wait times in the park, BUT there’s a similar reason you need to watch out for these hotels too.
There’s one tier of hotels you will want to avoid like the plague in the early weeks of April (not so much the later weeks) — Value Hotels.

“But value hotels are so much cheaper? What do you mean don’t book those?” We know, we know, trust us! But you know who else books those hotels because of the affordability? Large groups. Aka, the EXACT people who will be in the parks causing those wait times to go up.

To put it simply, large groups travel to Disney World in April for school trips, cheer competitions, dance competitions, you name it. Because when it’s spring break, they’re not missing any school! And those large groups will stay in the cheapest hotel they can, which happens to be the value resorts (especially the All-Star Hotels).

To be extra clear, the following are the value resorts on Disney World property:
- All-Star Music
- All-Star Movies
- All-Star Sports (this is ESPECIALLY the one to avoid)
- Pop Century
- Art of Animation

So if you’re traveling to Disney World in April, we highly suggest either booking one of the higher tiered value resorts (Art of Animation or Pop Century) if you REALLY want to still stay in a value resort. If you don’t want to potentially deal with large groups, we’d suggest splurging a bit on a moderate resort, or staying at a hotel or Airbnb nearby.

If you need to stay at one of these hotels, expect those large groups to be around the hotel, and make sure to book your room early so it doesn’t fill up during your dates!

Where would you stay on an April Disney World vacation? Tell us in the comments!
We are actually booked at Beach Club this April. Years ago, we decided that we’re rarely in our room so let’s try a Value Resort and we stayed at AllStar Music. What a mistake! We couldn’t even get near a pool as they were full of teenagers. The food hall was always crowded and literally trashed. We learned our lesson.
