From time to time, Disney World attractions break down, resulting in closures that can last anywhere from a few hours to several days. Sometimes, guests even end up stuck on an attraction for an extended period of time.

Recently, over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the popular Expedition Everest attraction began to experience what appears to be some technical difficulties.
At around 5:30PM on December 14th, 2023, our reporters noticed that Expedition Everest had been stuck for over 30 minutes. Guests were spotted stuck in their ride vehicles on the steep incline leading up to the mountain.

Cast Members reported that the ride was temporarily delayed and could resume at any point, so guests were instructed to remain seated.

For the time we were in the area of the park, guests had not yet been evacuated from the attraction. The ride was listed as “Temporarily Closed” on the My Disney Experience app.

If this happens to you on any ride, remain calm! Cast Members were trained to handle technical difficulties at rides and they will instruct you on what to do. It may not be an ideal situation, but Disney will get you out safely when they can. We’ve also seen Disney give things like multiple experience passes to riders who were stuck, although this is never guaranteed.
