The holiday season at the Disneyland Resort is in full swing and the festivities have taken over both parks!

This time of year is insanely popular at the two Disney parks in Anaheim. From festive decorations to special shows, the Disneyland Resort has a lot to offer for the holidays. That list of offerings as a hugely popular holiday event is returning to the resort this year — Disneyland’s Candlelight Processional!

This year’s Candlelight Processional is taking place on December 2nd and 3rd at 5:30PM and 7:45PM each night and we were lucky enough to check the FIRST performance of the 2023 edition of Disneyland’s historic tradition.

The Candlelight Processional is held on the steps of the Disneyland Railroad Main Street, U.S.A. station, and is open to the Disneyland public. That’s right, if you have a park ticket, no extra ticket is necessary to experience this famous event. With that said, it was expectedly busy so we advise claiming a spot HOURS before the processional starts.

The event features a choir that sings the story of Christmas while a celebrity narrator tells the story in between songs. The celebrity name is kept a secret until the first performance to we were surprised when it turned out to be Brie Larson.

A version of this tradition began when Disneyland opened in 1955 and gradually became a park staple in 1958 as a way for Walt Disney to show his gratitude towards the people of Orange County. It’s become so popular that the tradition has even made its way to EPCOT in Florida. If you’re able to see the Candlelight Processional at Disneyland this year, consider yourself lucky!
