During the BIG Disney fan event, Destination D23, Disney creatives and executives come together to share all the latest updates on the future of Disney.

We learned about a LOT of planned Disney World attraction makeovers, including the Country Bears show, Test Track, It’s Tough to Be a Bug, and more. But there was one big surprise announcement that we think a LOT of Disney fans will appreciate.
Disney revealed that a NEW lounge is coming to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. The restaurant will “extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean” and serve as a place where “pirates of all ages gather to tell their tales.” Based on that language, it doesn’t sound like this will be an adult-focused bar/lounge.

We also got a peek at the NEW concept art for this location! Keep in mind that this project is still in early development, but just for fun, let’s take a closer peek at the photo. Who knows, maybe there are some clues about what we might someday see at this pirate-themed lounge.

First, let’s address the most obvious thing in the concept art: the Barker Bird! If you’re unfamiliar, the Barker Bird is that bright green bird that used to hang out by the main entrance to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction (and before that, he was near the exit!). He’s a classic Pirates of the Caribbean icon!

Know what else caught our eye? That bright red hair in the concept art! Notice how everything else is in a sepia color, except that red hair? Could this be a nod to Redd the pirate? What do you think?!

And while we’ve got a good look at that concept art, we also noticed a pirate in the bottom right corner that looks an awful lot like the sleepy pirate from the ride! With all those familiar faces in the concept art, we’re hoping that this new lounge has LOTS of Easter eggs and nods to the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.

So, where could this new lounge end up? The closest restaurant to Pirates of the Caribbean is Tortuga Tavern. Could this be a replacement for that restaurant? Or will it be located in a new spot? We’ll have to wait and see! (But currently, our doubloons are on a Tortuga Tavern overhaul.)

Disney hasn’t shared many details about this new lounge, but we can’t wait for more information! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
