In Less Than One Month, a Disney World Hotel Will Permanently CLOSE

Disney World has over 20 different hotels to stay at during your time at the parks.

Star Wars Hotel

Some of these we love, and others we don’t necessarily recommend, but there is one hotel that is like no other. The Star Wars Hotel, aka the Galactic Starcruiser, opened its doors to guests back in 2022, and now, less than 2 years later, it’s about to close its doors for good.

The Galactic Starcruiser allows guests to partake in a 2-day, 2-night fully immersive experience that is better compared to a cruise than a hotel since you stay “onboard” the whole time to stay in the story (with one exception to Batuu in Hollywood Studios). However, guests could choose to be as immersed as they’d like to be in the story, allowing everyone to play at their own comfort level.

Disney announced in May 2023 that the hotel would close its doors for good after its final voyage on September 28th-30th, 2023. At this time, Disney has not yet revealed what this building will become, or if it will be totally torn down.

Disney executives have shared how the hotel was doomed from the start and what went wrong. While one of the largest reasons was the price point for this unique experience, tickets for the final voyages went quite quickly.

So why did the hotel cost so much? Not only was the theming impeccable, but the live actors who interacted with guests during the experience are on the same journey you are. They’re essentially performing improv (acting without a script) with the basic guidelines of a script throughout the whole experience. Anything can happen in a live performance, and it felt like anything could happen on the Starcruiser too.

Disney couldn’t afford to lower the price, and the average American family can’t afford such a pricey experience, so here we are. While we’re sad it will be no more, we’re not totally surprised at this outcome. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the news about what this experience will become, so stay tuned to AllEars!

  1. So stupid open it up as a themed resort like all the others. Have it be paid by the night, and where you have to buy your food as all the other resorts take away the all inclusive and have the customers purchase there food and souvenirs It would be another high end resort for Disney.
