August marks the start of an important time at Disney World. Know why?

Beginning in August, Magic Kingdom and the other Disney parks transform overnight to prepare for the Halloween season! Get ready for pumpkin spice, witch hats, and a skeleton band to appear around the parks! Halloween is coming soon, but that’s not the only exciting news on the horizon. Come with us as we take on five big changes coming to Disney World this August.Â
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Begins
Finally! The time has come; we can start celebrating Halloween! Look out for pumpkins on Main Street, U.S.A., characters dressed in adorable costumes, and (our favorite part) Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins!

The Halloween party will take place on select nights from August 11th through November 1st. Look out for our full coverage of the event; we’ll be there at the first party of the season!

So far, we know that our favorite entertainment offerings will return, like the Boo to You Halloween parade and the fireworks show, plus look out for some new characters at the party!Â

World Princess Week
In addition to the upcoming spooky Halloween events next month, August 20th through the 26th marks another special offering: World Princess Week! Disney celebrated this princess-themed event back in 2021 and 2022, and now it’s returning in 2023.

Disney revealed that it will host one of the biggest wish-granting events ever thanks to the Once Upon a Wish Party. It’s a special event just for Make-A-Wish families that will include treats, tea, special characters, and more during a royal ball. This will be a first-of-its-kind wish event in Disney World.

Haunted Mansion Ride Closure
If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this August, you might want to listen up. Magic Kingdom’s famous Haunted Mansion attraction will be closing for refurbishment.Â

The good news is that this attraction is only scheduled to be closed for a few days. The ride will be down from August 7th-9th.Â

Disney did not release any details on the reason for this temporary closure, but we do know that at some point this year, the Hat Box Ghost will arrive inside the attraction. (You may recognize him from the Disneyland Haunted Mansion ride) Note that Disney did not confirm that the Hat Box Ghost will be installed during the upcoming August closure, so we’ll have to wait and see when he arrives!

New EPCOT Food & Wine Booths Will Join the Festival
While the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival officially starts on July 27th, some booths will be opening after the festival’s grand debut.

Mark your calendars! On August 15th, the Noodle Exchange and Hawai’i food booths will open. Get ready for some noodly goodness and Hawaiian-inspired eats!

Indiana Jones Pop-Up Bar Leaves Disney’s Hollywood Studios
It’s the end of an era! The fun little pop-up bar in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, known as Indiana Jones: Den of Destiny, opened back in June, and August 15th will be the last day it is open.Â

You still have a few days next month to check out the bar before it closes! Look out for the specialty drinks like the draft beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic tea.

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes on the space to see if anything replaces the pop-up bar.

Halloween season is just around the corner and we’re getting an early preview next month. Sounds amazing! I am also excited for world princess week. Princesses are some of my favorite parts of Disney world. I don’t know if Anna and Elsa will be in it or not since they are not officially in the princess lineup. If Anna & Elsa do show up, they better be in their Frozen 1 outfits.
