One of the best parts of a Disney World vacation is meeting characters, right?

There are a lot of ways to do this, including Disney’s classic meet and greets at the theme parks, as well as special character dining experiences. Characters may randomly appear at Disney World hotels, too, but now they’re appearing in a new way, and we think that way MIGHT be a bit controversial.
Disney has introduced something called Disney Character Clicks, a free way to use the digital PhotoPass experience to “meet” characters in the lobbies of Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort and Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort.

Here’s the thing, though. Basically, this new service lets you snap a virtual photo with Mickey Mouse and his friends at a special photo booth at the resorts. You can use your MagicBand, MagicMobile Pass, or Key to the World card (just like you would if you were using PhotoPass in the parks).

Then, on the screen, you choose the character you want to take a photo with, strike your pose, and then you’ll see them pose next to you, “like they’re really there.” Except they’re not. It’s sort of like a PhotoPass Magic Shot but with Disney characters!

After, you can get your photo in the My Disney Experience app or on the Disney World website PhotoPass page — and you can download the photo for free.
But as we mentioned, the characters are only there virtually, so this is just a fun thing you can do if you’re not actually interested in meeting the characters in person and having those fun interactions with them (which we might argue is the best part of the whole thing!).
These little “photo booths” are only available for a limited time, though, so if you do want to try it out, you’ll need to do so quickly.
