See the Newest Baby Animal at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!

One of the best parts about Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is seeing the animals, of course!

Kilimanjaro Safaris

Sure, you can see Disney ducks in the other parks and an aquarium at EPCOT, but there’s nothing like taking a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris and seeing all of the animals. We’ve also seen baby animals be born at Disney World including a giraffe, a mandrill, and a rhino, and Disney also shared how they take care of baby animals during storms like Hurricane Ian. But now, get ready to say “aw” because there’s a brand new baby animal in Disney World!

Introducing the newest okapi named Beni! Beni was born back in July to mom Olivia, and the duo has been backstage hanging out and bonding.

Beni is now the 12th okapi to be born at Disney World and the 5th at Animal Kingdom Lodge — he is the first baby okapi born here since 2018! Beni is about 100 pounds and is about 3 feet tall from hoof to shoulder. Eventually, Beni could grow to be 5 to 6 feet tall and 650 pounds.

Disney has been monitoring Beni, as they do with all baby animals, and makes sure he hits all of the milestones he should. There isn’t an exact debut date for Beni yet, but if you’re visiting Animal Kingdom Lodge in the next few months, be sure to look out for him on the Pembe Savanna to try and see him!
