NEWS: Orlando International Airport Sees Third Busiest Month EVER in 2022

A lot changed in the way the world worked when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March of 2020. But things are slowly starting to get back to “normal” as we’ve seen more and more restrictions being lifted over the past few months at Disney World, in airports, and more.

And, as restrictions have lessened, more travelers have been headed on vacation! Recently, Florida reported another huge increase in tourism for the first quarter of 2022, and in that same timeframe, Disney saw a massive increase in revenue making it their second-best quarter of all time. And, if that’s not enough to prove that Florida is a popular place to vacation right now, we now have new data from the Orlando Airport.

Orlando International Airport (MCO) has just released its traffic numbers for the first quarter of 2022 (January through March). Now that the airport has regained 148 of the 150 travel destinations it offered before COVID, travel is up 65% in comparison to last year’s first quarter.

International travel alone has increased 421% this first quarter and overall, the airport has seen a total of 11.6 million passengers in 2022’s first 3 months.

March 2022 was also reportedly the third busiest month at MCO ever with March and December 2019 being the only other months to outrank it. So, you’ll want to prepare for a busy airport if you’ll be traveling through MCO anytime soon. And, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Orlando theme park news and updates!
