Are your bags packed? Do you have all of your tickets, park and dining reservations, and hotel rooms? Who are we kidding, you’ve probably been ready to go for weeks.
If you’re getting ready to head out on a Disney World vacation, it’s important to stay updated on everything going on throughout the parks and resorts. Connections Cafe and Eatery just opened in EPCOT, and the new DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort are getting closer to being finished too. With so much going on, it can be hard to keep track of what’s still coming — so here’s a list of the biggest things happening in Disney World this May!
It’s the season of growth for more than just the flowers over in Disney World, as new experiences, attractions, and dining locations seem to be popping up all the time. If you’re planning a Disney World trip in May, you might want to know about some of these important dates!
May 3rd and May 15th: Magic Kingdom Is Closing Early
If you were planning on heading to Magic Kingdom on these dates, you might want to arrive at the park as soon it opens or plan a different day to go. Because the OG Disney World park will be closing its doors at 4:30PM for private events on both days.
You could also buy a Park Hopper ticket to head to a different park once Magic Kingdom closes.
May 4th: Star Wars Day
While it’s not an official Disney World event, what better place to celebrate the unofficial “May the Fourth Be With You” Day than in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?!
Take in all the sights and sounds of Batuu, eat a Ronto Wrap, drink some green and blue milk, and share your love of all things Star Wars with other fans.
May 22nd: Summer Menu Debuts at Farmer’s Feast
This EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival Booth will enter its summer menu phase beginning on May 22nd. The booth switches out its menu based on which ingredients are readily available in each season, and this month we’ll see some summer flavors.
Guests can enjoy Tomato and Cornbread Panzanella with Burrata Cheese and Fresh Basil, Barbecue Seared Pork Tenderloin with Summer Succotash, Herb Butter, and Grapefruit Vinaigrette, and a Feta Cheesecake with Watermelon Curd, Pickled Watermelon Rind, Watermelon Caramel, and Compressed Watermelon — aptly titled “A Whole Lotta Melon.”
May 26th: Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Reservations Available
Although the show won’t return until June 23rd, guests will once again be able to make reservations for this hootin’ and hollerin’ good-time dinner show beginning on May 26th.
After such a long hiatus, this beloved show will no doubt book up quickly — so if you’ve been waiting for what feels like forever, be sure to mark your calendar and grab those reservations ASAP.
May 27th: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Opens at EPCOT
Quite possibly the biggest thing happening in Disney World during May this year is the opening of the long-awaited thrill coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
We have been bringing you update after update about this attraction, and we are so excited that it’s finally opening soon. This backward-launch rollercoaster promises an exciting story and fast-paced adventure, and we have been waiting on the edge of our seats to join in on the fun!
May 28th: H2O Glow After Hours Returns to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
This after-hours event at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park had been missing from the park since the 2020 closure, but that all changes this month.
On select dates from May 28th through August 27th, guests can enjoy special decor, DJ dance parties, exclusive menu items, glow wristbands, and more. You can get your tickets now on the Disney World website.
