NEWS: Reopening Date Announced for Expedition Everest in Disney World

For the past several months, we’ve been not-so-patiently awaiting the reopening of Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Expedition Everest

The ride went down for an extended refurbishment at the beginning of the year, and since, we’ve been missing having this E-ticket attraction to fill our days in Animal Kingdom. It was set for a mid-April reopening, and now we’ve finally got the official date!

Thanks to AllEars reader Joe (@schreiberjoe on Instagram), we found that the Disney World website has been updated with this information. On the Disney Genie+ page, it notes that Expedition Everest will be available again starting April 16th. We can’t wait!

It’s down for now!

Also, when the ride reopens, it will be available through Disney Genie+. Previously, it was included in the list of Individual Attraction Selections (the rides that you have to pay individually to use the Lightning Lanes), but since many other rides have joined the ranks of Genie+ (like Space Mountain, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Frozen Ever After), this change makes sense. According to Disney, those rides are only available on Genie+ through August 7th, so that will likely be the case for Expedition Everest as well — then it will go back to being an Individual Attraction Selection.

We’ll be there on the reopening day to check it out, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest news and updates!
