Cheeseburger Pods are a popular lunch and dinner option among Disney Park-goers when they’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
You can find these steamed buns of glory at Satu’li Canteen over in Pandora — The World of Avatar, and we find ourselves drawn there for a pod or two pretty often. Like, maybe weekly. Or daily. Anyway, we visited today…and you’ll never guess what happened next!
As regular Disney-goers, it’s not uncommon for Cast Members to recognize us as we make our way through the park. And, today we were reminded just how many times we’ve stopped into Satu’li Canteen to enjoy a Cheeseburger Pod when a Cast Member welcomed us by saying, “Hey, welcome back! Cheeseburger Pods again??”
But, hey, we’re proud Cheeseburger Pod lovers (it’s not our fault they’re so delicious!), so we had no shame in ordering up our “usual.” Of course, we couldn’t help but share our experience on Twitter and, we had no idea what the future held in store!

Disney Legend Joe Rohde, the Imagineer who led the creative team behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom along with many other achievements, REPLIED TO OUR TWEET sharing some behind-the-scenes insight into the delicious meal. He explained that the infamous Cheeseburger Pods were actually inspired by a Rodhe family recipe!

If you’re not familiar, Cheeseburger Pods are stuffed with ground beef, ketchup, mustard, pickle, and cheddar cheese, all steamed in a bao bun. You can get two pods served with vegetable slaw and vegetable chips for $12.29, or you can use one of our favorite tips and get a single pod with the kids’ meal for $7.99. Trust us, one pod is quite filling!
