3 Long-Term Closures End as Others Continue in Disney World This Week

When you’re visiting Disney World, you’ll likely encounter at least a few different closures in the parks and resorts as they refurbish different areas.

Magic Kingdom

Recently, we saw long-term closures end at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort as the Main Street Confectionery reopened in the park and the updated lobby and many of the rooms were revealed at the hotel. But, there are still a few places that will be closed next week. So, to help you plan your week, we’re bringing you everything that will be closed for refurbishment between October 4th to October 10th, 2021.

Walt Disney World Railroad

Construction is set to continue on Magic Kingdom’s upcoming roller coaster, TRON: Lightcycle Run, which means that the Walt Disney World Railroad will remain closed for another week.

The construction in Tomorrowland is currently blocking a portion of the tracks and Disney hasn’t shared an update on when the attraction could reopen to guests, but we’ll continue to keep an eye out!

And, while quite a bit of construction has wrapped up across the Disney World Resorts, there are still a few closures that will impact guests at select hotels. At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a portion of the new Incredibles-themed rooms have debuted (though some are still closed) and the lobby area is now open (including the NEW restaurant, Steakhouse 71).

Now only some of the rooms remain closed

And, while work has wrapped up at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, closures are still impacting the main lobby area at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Currently, all guests are being directed to check-in outdoors at the port cochere as they continue to make updates on the guest arrival experience.

  1. Why would they do these updates during the WDW50th celebration. It’s not that they could change the year or month.
