It’s been a busy day of Disney news as more details about the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary were revealed!
Previously, Disney had shared a look at the makeovers for all four park icons and Mickey and Minnie’s new outfits for the 18-month long celebration. Plus, we already knew that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris would open with the anniversary as well. But, Disney isn’t done yet — now we have MORE details for what to expect in the parks on October 1st!
New Magic Kingdom Fireworks Show
Last week we shared that Happily Ever After would be returning to Magic Kingdom on July 1st, but that isn’t the only fireworks show coming to the park. Disney has announced a BRAND NEW nighttime spectacular called Disney Enchantment that will debut on October 1st.
The show will include new music, lighting on the castle, fireworks, and projections that extend all the way from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.

Main Street, U.S.A. Projections
Speaking of the projections, this is the first time ever that projections will be found on Main Street, U.S.A. and, you’ll only be able to catch it during Disney Enchantment!
Disney concept art shows golden projections that seemingly start from Cinderella Castle and make their way to the front of the park while guests are watching on Main Street. So, you might want to reserve a spot there during the show instead of being close to the castle.

Harmonious Gets a Premiere Date in EPCOT
Over in EPCOT, we already knew that EPCOT Forever (the temporary show that replaced Illuminations: Reflections of Earth) would be returning on July 1st. But, the show won’t be around much longer! Disney announced today that the new nighttime show, Harmonious, will debut in the park on October 1st.
By day the centerpieces of the show will act as a water fountain in World Showcase Lagoon, and by night guests will be able to watch the new show that mixes classic Disney music with the theme of global unity.

New Daytime Show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We’re not done just yet with all the new shows coming to Disney World! There will also be a new daytime show coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on October 1st called Disney KiteTails.
It will feature a performance of flying windcatchers and kites in the Discovery River Amphitheater. And, out on the lake, giant 3D kites that look like iconic Disney characters (like Simba, Zazu, Baloo, and King Louie) will float over the water to the tune of Disney music.

New Character Cavalcade
Back in Magic Kingdom, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Chip, AND Dale will all be getting new costumes to match the “EARidescent” color scheme for the celebrations.
And, you’ll be able to catch them greeting guests on the parade route throughout the day during the NEW Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade that will debut on October 1st.

New Character Sculptures
Another piece of the celebration kicking off on October 1st will be the “Disney Fab 50.” The series will feature a total of 50 new gold statues throughout all four theme parks that highlight 50 different Disney characters and you’ll find some “surprising ways…to interact with these beautiful sculptures.”
And, though Disney hasn’t revealed the full list of characters just yet, we do know that Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale in the Magic Kingdom outside of Cinderella Castle.

50th Anniversary Book
And, a few days before the 50th Anniversary begins, Disney fans will be able to pick up a copy of the new book, “Walt Disney World: A Portrait of the First Half Century.” The book will tell the story of the past 50 years at Disney World and is written by Kevin Kern, Tim O’Day, and Steven Vagnini.
It will be available in the parks and on shopDisney on September 28th.

Disney Magic Maker Contest
If all of this sounds like a reason to head to Disney World on October 1st, you’re right! And, Disney is looking for 50 (!!) everyday heroes to bring to the parks for FREE! During the Disney Magic Makers contest, anyone can submit a nomination for someone who “brings joy to those around them by bettering their community, school, workplace, nonprofit organization and more.”
And, a total of 50 winners will receive a FREE Walt Disney World trip during the 50th anniversary PLUS a one-year subscription to Disney+. You can learn more about the contest in the video below.
