Despite the fact that Disney World is filled with thrill rides, the parks’ endless refurbishment schedule has felt like a roller coaster in and of itself.
We’ve seen attractions close and reopen (sometimes they stay closed for months and sometimes it’s just for a minute), but it’s not too often a ride reopens earlier than expected, which was the case with an iconic Magic Kingdom ride today!
If there was a Mount Rushmore of quintessential Disney World rides, Big Thunder Mountain would be on it. It’s a true legend, which is why basically everyone (us included) was super eager to see it reopen following a brief closure.
We recently learned that the ride would be closed for a brief refurbishment, with Disney saying it would remain shuttered through June 12th.
Well, today is June 12th, and what a pleasant surprise it was to see the roller coaster back in action a day early!
Were our eyes deceiving us? Nope! We checked the My Disney Experience app and confirmed the ride does indeed have a wait time again…
…as crowds have clearly returned to the attraction.
And even though the Disney website still says it’ll be closed through June 12th, it also lists the attraction as operational, with normal operating hours today.
Of course, we couldn’t be more excited to be back on the attraction!
We’re thrilled to see one of our favorite rides back in action, even earlier than expected! See, PeopleMover? This is how a refurb is done.
And, we’ll be sure to update you on even more details about construction and refurbishments taking place in Disney World! Stay tuned with All Ears for the latest Disney news!
