From nighttime spectaculars to extended ride refurbishments and even entire park overhauls, we can’t wait to see the outcome of so many projects in the works. The Disney Resorts are even looking very different as undergo construction around the property as well!

In an update about the refurbishment at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (which we’ll swing back around to), they made an important statement in their announcement. Disney noted, “This exciting progress is part of the overall evolution of our Disney Resort hotels, as we infuse even more Disney touches across our collection – just in time for ‘The World’s Most Magical Celebration,’ beginning Oct. 1, 2021, in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.”

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

If you’ve stopped by Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you’ll know it as the home of a Monorail stop and Chef Mickey’s! This past January, the Contemporary had limited availability, which was revealed to be a part of a refurbishment of the Main Tower Guest Rooms.

This refurbishment will be taking place from April to this fall, but those are the only few details we know currently. Disney hasn’t provided an official announcement of everything happening at the Contemporary just yet. So, we’ll have to wait and see if there will only be a few modern updates to the rooms or a complete redesign moving forward.

Here’s what you need to know about Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Right now, the BIGGEST refurbishment is happening over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The entire hotel is undergoing construction as the Monorail station, Great Ceremonial House lobby building, pool, and more receive updates.

The entrance’s porte cochere wil be transformed into a high-pitch, open-truss roof with pops of color in the thatched style. Meanwhile, the Monorail station will have wooden screens and tropical colors to fit into the theme of the resort.

The guest rooms are also getting refurbished with a brand new Moana-inspired look. Disney just provided a first look at the rooms, and we are SO excited to be able to visit again!

The textures and details are reminiscent of the film with nods to Maui’s tattoos, images of the characters throughout the room, and a Pacific Ocean themed color palette that will remind guests of “undulating ocean waves and tropical flowers.”

Over at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the character images were recently removed from the entrance. However, they were put back up again with very minimal changes. The Big Blue Pool was also recently undergoing refurbishment with the water drained from the area.

At Disney’s Pop Century, there was also some refurbishment as the Hippy Dippy Pool closed for maintenance and construction.
