Buy This in Disney World (But Don’t Tell Anyone)

There are tons of ways to upgrade your Walt Disney World vacation if you’re looking for some extra magic.

Magic Kingdom

Yes, there are more obvious splurges like Park Hopper tickets and staying in a Deluxe Resort, but there are even more ways to take your stay to the next level. We’ve gathered suggestions that are so extra that you kinda want to keep them a secret!

Buy This at Walt Disney World (But Don’t Tell Anyone)

Dine at California Grill

California Grill is a top-notch restaurant on the top floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The dining experience is one of the fanciest you’ll find at Walt Disney World; there’s even a dress code so you can’t show up in any average outfit.

Even getting up to the top floor is an exclusive experience. When you check in on the second floor, a Cast Member accompanies you up a private elevator to the restaurant. Once you’re there, you’re greeted by a wall of wine fridges. The restaurant serves a selection of over 300 wines.

The menu is full of award-winning dishes, and the service is typically spectacular. Plus, you experience it all with a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. If you can time your reservation so that you’re dining during the Magic Kingdom fireworks display, it is one of the best views!

Fireworks View from California Grill

The meals are pricey, but it is a great place to save for celebrations or special occasions!

Pro Tip: If you can’t get an ADR for fireworks viewing, you can still enjoy the show from the observation deck at California Grill. Bring in your receipt from dining earlier in the day, show it to the Cast Members at the check-in desk, and they’ll tell you where to go to enjoy the show!

Stay Club Level at a Deluxe Resort

All Deluxe Resort hotels at Walt Disney World offer a Club Level option, and the price point is certainly for those looking to go all out on their vacations. But if you’re willing to pay the price, you are in for quite the extravagant experience.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The club level is typically on upper floors of the resort, so you’re treated to premium views. When you check-in, you’ll meet the Cast Member who is dedicated to club level guests throughout your stay. They will handle everything for you and can assist you with almost anything.

You’ll also gain access to the Club Level Lounge where you can go for free breakfast, unlimited snacks throughout the day, happy hour with wine and beer, and, of course, desserts.

Splurge on a Spa Day

Ever feel like a vacation to Walt Disney World is more stressful than it is relaxing? It certainly can be when you’re running from park to park in the hot sun handling crowds and kids. But Disney World has a variety of spa locations where you can treat yourself to some TLC.

Senses Spa Seating Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Whether you want to get your nails done or relax with a massage, any spa service that you book gives you unlimited access to the spa lounge area all day. That’s right: throw on your complimentary robe and shoes, and grab a snack, have some tea — whatever you need!

Rent a Cabana for Pool Day

This splurge is almost as relaxing as a spa day. Treat yourself to a cabana at the pool, and experience your resort pool day like never before. You can rent a cabana at Disney’s Contemporary, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, or Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club for a full day or a half-day. And while the price is hefty, there’s nothing quite like having a covered area to relax on a warm day at the pool.

Your cabana will come with everything you might need to relax. The rental comes with plush towels, lounge chairs for an afternoon snooze, a TV with cable, and a ceiling fan. And you’ll have Cast Members to bring you cocktails (you gotta pay extra for these) whenever you ask and a mini-fridge with complimentary water bottles and sodas.

Spending a day at the pool in Disney will never be the same.

Go to a Special Ticketed Event

At Walt Disney World, it can sometimes feel like they’ll put a price tag on anything, but there are so many good reasons to splurge on one of Disney’s special ticketed events. The events usually happen seasonally, including Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

The ticketed events usually take place from 7PM-12AM on select nights at Magic Kingdom and, though the price is high, Disney makes the evening extra-special.

You can anticipate lower crowds so you can ride a lot more rides than you would during the day, and you’ll enjoy free snacks throughout the park. There’s also a lot that only takes place in the park during those hours, such as rare character meet-and-greets and exclusive entertainment.

Plus, special stage shows take place throughout the park, and the fireworks show is usually exclusive to the party.

So, yes the parties at Disney World are pricey, but Disney packs a lot of exclusive experiences into those five hours that you won’t forget!

Make a Lightsaber in Galaxy’s Edge

Now, this is the ultimate splurge for Star Wars fans. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge features some pretty cool and immersive experiences. You can pilot the Millennium Falcon, join the Resistance, and make a custom lightsaber. But it doesn’t come cheap!

Savi’s Workshop

Savi’s Workshop is the secret location where you’ll find “keepers of the force” known here as Gatherers to help you build your own lightsaber. We say secret because the First Order can’t know that they’ve got Jedis on the planet Batuu! If anyone asks, Savi’s is just a scapheep, you got it?

During the immersive 20 minute experience, you’ll identify which path you feel called to and construct your very own lightsaber and wield the force.

Lightsaber Pieces

No matter what lightsaber you create, you’ll pay $219.99. But, hey, you’re a Jedi now with your own lightsaber!
