There have been several major switch-ups at the Walt Disney Company as the entertainment giant re-organizes their company structure. With a new emphasis on streaming and Direct-to-Consumer, Disney has had a string of announcements over the last several months when it comes to executive positions, especially across television and film.
Most recently, Disney has a new head of global theatrical distribution.
According to Variety, Tony Chambers has been promoted to executive vice president of global theatrical distribution at the Walt Disney Company.
In the article, it is noted that Chambers’ will be “responsible for leading and integrating domestic and international distribution across theatrical and home entertainment for all films produced and released by Disney.” Of course, the lines seem to have been blurred over the past year between theatrical and home entertainment, with Disney looking to streaming as the future of the company.
Chambers replaces Cathleen Taff, who currently serves as president of production services, franchise management and multicultural engagement. We’ll continue to keep an eye on all the new developments happening with the Walt Disney Company as they continue their major re-organization!
