Disney Resorts have been reopening to welcome guests back “home” recently.

However, Disney has had to make a few difficult decisions when it comes to their Cast Members during this current time period. Since capacity is limited in the parks, the resorts aren’t seeing as many guests as they’re used to at the moment.

Recently, Marriott stated in a filing with the state of Florida that 1136 employees will be laid off at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort this upcoming November.

Although the Swan and Dolphin has been moving forward with its construction on the new Swan Reserve, Marriott said that the travel industry had undergone “historic, swift, and devastating” circumstances recently.

As the company projects what the rest of 2020 and 2021 will look like, Marriott predicts that there will be low occupancy and event cancellations occurring well into next year. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, employees at the Swan and Dolphin Resort will experience permanent lay-offs beginning November 13th.
