NEWS: AMC Plans to Open a Majority of Their Theaters in July

As states begin to allow businesses to resume operations, many are wondering when certain activities can resume, like going to the movie theaters.

AMC, one of the largest national chains of movie theaters in the U.S., released their Quarter One earnings today, noting that they hope to have “almost all” of their theaters in the U.S. and U.K. open in July.

In a Tweet sent out by Frank Pallotta, a reporter from CNN, AMC hopes to have their theaters open in July, although a specific date has yet to be determined. These openings will be largely based on state and federal guidelines.

They specifically mentioned the desire to have their theaters open in time for the release of Disney’s live action remake of Mulan, set to arrive in theaters on July 24th. The film was previously set to come out in March, but was delayed due to the global health crisis and movie theaters needing to close worldwide.

Mulan isn’t the only film to have their release date affected by the virus. A number of Disney films have been pushed back, while other films have moved to straight-to-home-release, like Artemis Fowl, debuting on Disney+ on June 12th.

Will you head to your local AMC theater in July if they reopen at that time? Share your thoughts in the comments!
