Disney World’s Reopening Will Include a “Social Distancing Squad”

Today, Disney World submit their proposal to reopen their theme parks in July. If this new proposal passes, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will open on July 11th, with EPCOT and Hollywood Studios following on July 15th.

When those parks reopen, a newly formed team of Cast Members will be present to help encourage social distancing.

This team is called a “Social Distancing Squad,” as Disney called them at the May 27th Orange County Task Force presentation.

Disney introduced this team of Cast Members at Disney Springs when it reopened on May 20th. At the Task Force presentation, Disney noted the huge “success”of this team and seemed optimistic that this success would continue as the parks reopen.

The role of this team is to remind guests of the social distancing measures in place and to politely encourage guests to comply with the new health and safety protocol. Disney noted that they have not experienced any negative experiences with these teams and that guests are complying when approached by these Cast Members.

This is a developing story and we will continue to provide updates as we hear them!

  1. Will Disney no longer unsafely cram people into buses??? Can’t social distance when the shove people so tight into the bus!

  2. We were planning on attending in July, but will wait to see how the reservation system affects our ability to attend the parks each day, park hopping and FP+ ride planning.
