We Love These Five Disney Dining Plan Snacks at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you’re planning on using the Disney Dining Plan on your Walt Disney World vacation, you want to make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck with your credits. We’re wild about the food at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, from the flavors to the variety, so we highly recommend snacking your way around the wildest park in the World!

Tree of Life

You’ll find all the standard snacks here: Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Mickey Pretzels, fresh fruit, and soft serve ice cream cones. But there are just as many unique snack items in this park that stand out for their size, creativity, and straight-up deliciousness.

We’re going to look at five snack items at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that we can’t get enough of!

Pulled Pork Cheese Fries — Flame Tree Barbecue

We’re starting off our list with one of our favorites, and we think you can already tell why by looking at it. Pulled Pork Cheese Fries are covered in savory pulled pork, and that plastic cheese is a total hit of gooeyness and nostalgia. The smattering of green and the rich Flame Tree Barbecue sauce add even more flavor.

This thing is big enough to double as an entrée if you want to conserve your precious meal credits, and it’s certainly big enough to share if you’re trying to eat all the snacks in the Kingdom. You can also use Mobile Order at Flame Tree Barbecue to order these cheesy fries ahead of time with the press of a button.

Malva Cake Sundae — Tamu Tamu Refreshments

We can’t think of a situation where we would turn down vanilla ice cream or cake, so having them both together is a snack dream come true. Did we mention that caramel is drizzled over the whole thing, because yes, that happens.

The cake is so warm and inviting, and the ice cream is sweet, but not to the point where you’ll be dealing with a toothache for the rest of the day. It truly is the best of both worlds, and we love every bite of it. You can find this one at Tamu Tamu Refreshments as you wander through Harambe.

Chicken Fried Rice — Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafe

If you’re looking to carb up on your 10K around the park, you can grab a huge box of Yak and Yeti’s Chicken Fried Rice as a side for a snack credit. A snack credit for something this huge!

The rice is super filling, which means it’s perfect for a meal substitution. The best part about this snack, though, is that it’s easy to grab and go, so you can eat while you’re on your way to your next destination.

Bugs ‘n Grubs — Trilo-Bites

We know what you’re thinking: “AllEars, are you seriously suggesting that I eat bugs?” Yes — but just the gummy and chocolate kinds, of course! We first set our sights on this sweet soft-serve treat last year for the 25th anniversary of The Lion King, and we are so happy it stuck around. The chocolate ice cream is served in a green cone with cookies and cream “dirt” crumbles. Look in the “dirt” and you’ll find the gummy worms and chocolate ladybug this snack is named for.

This is, quite simply, a sweet ice cream cone with fun extras piled on. If you want to eat it all, you better go fast! The hot Florida sun is not kind to this chocolaty treat, and before you can say Hakuna Matata, it’ll melt on ya. You can find this cone at Trilo-Bites in Dinoland U.S.A.

Baked Mac and Cheese — Eight Spoon Cafe

You read that right, you can get Baked Mac and Cheese at Eight Spoon Cafe. Not only that, but there’s three different versions! You can get the cheesy bowl by itself, or your mac and cheese can go the extra mile with either pulled pork or shrimp. The macaroni and cheese itself is baked to a crisp and so cheesy.

Pulled Pork Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Things start to get really interesting when you load it up with either pulled pork or shrimp, though. The pulled pork is smoky and saucy, and the shrimp has a nice sweet chili sauce that’s tangy but also gives it a little kick. Just because you get the protein doesn’t mean they skimp out on the mac and cheese though, so if you want to get the most bang for your buck, get one of the meats.

  1. How about the giant double chocolate chip ice cream sandwich at Tamu Tamu? I saw one on our first day and asked the person eating it where he got it, and when I got one I had several people ask me where I had got mine!
