5 Illegal Things You’re Still Bringing to Disney World (And Everyone Hopes You’ll Stop)

There are a lot of rules — both official and unwritten — about visiting Disney World, and some of the most strictly enforced concern which items guests are allowed to bring into the parks.

Sea of Strollers

The garbage cans at the front of Disney’s security lines are often chock-full of contraband items that guests try to — knowingly or unknowingly — bring into the park. These are some of the most common items that people need to stop trying to bring into the parks.

Toy Weapons

Any toy or prop replica that resembles a weapon or firearm is strictly forbidden from being brought into Disney’s parks. Yes, that even includes Star Wars blasters, so apologies to the wannabe Han Solos.

Oversized Strollers

Strollers are already somewhat controversial at Disney World, with parents and non-parents alike often debating the proper etiquette for pushing them through the parks, and how much they should carry on them. However, Disney does have some strict standards for strollers, with those larger than 31″ inches in width and 52” in height banned. In addition, stroller wagons of all sizes are now disallowed.

No more stroller wagons!

Selfie Sticks Still Aren’t Allowed

Apologies to those looking for the “perfect” selfie, but selfie sticks and other similar hand-held extension poles for cameras and mobile devices are not allowed in the parks.

Glass Containers

With the notable exception of small containers such as baby food jars, anything glass is a no-go when entering Disney’s theme parks. So, keep that in mind when packing snacks or choosing a new refillable water bottle for your trip.

No glass bottles, people!

Balloons (at Animal Kingdom)

This one is park-specific. While balloons and plastic straws are allowed at Disney World’s three other parks, they are strictly forbidden at Animal Kingdom due to potential safety issues for the animals. This is especially important to keep in mind if you’re parking hopping to Animal Kingdom after visiting another park first, as no one wants to deal with telling a child they need to throw away their new Mickey balloon. Disney does offer to store them in a sort of daycare at Animal Kingdom so you can retrieve them when you’re done for the day but it’s still a hassle!

Mickey balloon anyone? Not at Animal Kingdom.

Trying to bring in any of these items — or any of the others that aren’t allowed in Disney’s parks — will not only ruin the day of the guest who, knowingly or not, tried to get them into the park, but also others, as the security lines will grind to a halt.
