One of the Magic Kingdom’s most beloved attractions is returning from a long refurbishment, and it’s bringing a BRAND NEW character with it.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, which has been closed for refurbishment since August 4th, 2025, is finally set to reopen on April 8th in Magic Kingdom, and we received a special sneak peek at all of the attraction’s NEW additions.
The new and improved Buzz features new ride vehicles…

…as well as new handheld blasters (complete with red and green beams to help differentiate between yourself and your fellow rider). Even better, the targets have been updated to change color when you hit them, so you’ll know when you actually hit one. Before, you just had to kinda’ assume you hit it and move on because they didn’t react.

There’s also a new opening scene featuring a NEW robot character named Buddy! He’s here to ensure that “departing Space Rangers are fully prepared for their mission (by) enthusiastically providing encouragement, final system checks on their Star Cruisers, and a chance to hone their blaster aim.”

This is your chance to learn how the new features of the ride work and get some target practice in before heading out into space for the real thing.

Another new scene has been added to the tunnel you go through before you face Zurg, so you’ll want to be looking for that, too. It will offer extra chances to earn points, so have that blaster ready!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will open to the public on April 8th, so you’ll want to make sure to make this ride a priority now that it’s been updated.
Stay tuned to AllEars for MORE on this refurbished attraction and more.
