8 HIDDEN Details You Can’t Miss in Magic Kingdom’s NEW Pirate Lounge

Magic Kingdom‘s newest dining location, the new pirate lounge called The Beak and Barrel, is now open!

The menu is full of exciting dining options to try, tons of exclusive cocktails and mocktails, and Disney really went ALL OUT with the hidden details and interactivity of this new spot. There are so many you don’t want to miss, but these 5 secret details are our personal favorites!

Starting out strong, when you sit down at the Captains’ Booths, don’t miss the slew of details built right into the artwork! The end caps on the booths have specific artwork because each booth is representative of a different pirate ideal: adventure, freedom, fortune, and unity. 

David, the Story Lead Imagineer for The Beak and Barrel, said his favorite panel is the one that depicts Jack Sparrow’s battle with the Kraken. However, Kelsey, the project’s Senior Interior Designer, shared that her favorite panel is the one that’s full of riches! The Graphic Designer for The Beak and Barrel, Mackenzie, shared that her favorite panel is the one that details multiple Pirate Lords. Each of these panels is hand-carved, and Jessica, the Interior Designer, told Disney that her favorite panel is the one that depicts freedom aboard a ship.

But those are far from the ONLY hidden details in the lounge! Every 7-8 minutes, there’s a new part of the lounge that comes to life. Sometimes it’s Rummy, the iconic parrot, coming out near the bar to make an appearance, other times it’s ships in a bottle going to battle — you never know what to expect!

If you take a close look at The Cursed Bar, you may notice a bottle of rum separate from everything else. This was actually gifted to Captain Merry, the creator of the pub, by a powerful Enchantress. As long as the bottle stays full, the pub will never run out of drink!

Don’t forget to take a look at the walls and read all the signs tacked up! You’ll get a good laugh out of some of them.

Over in the Map room, you’ll find map tools on the table, as well as a giant map on the wall that’s clearly holding some secrets. Can you figure them out? We’re still working on it, but we’re trying! Don’t miss the cannonballs in the wall as well!
