A New Disney Character Just Arrived in Magic Kingdom

A new nighttime parade AND a NEW character just debuted in Magic Kingdom! Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away just officially debuted in a soft opening on July 18th!

We are so impressed by this new nighttime parade, but there is also new character that we need to talk about! Along with the Disney Starlight parade, a brand-new character named Whimsy has also made its debut.

Everyone, meet Whimsy! Whimsy is made of starlight and appears on the new train grand finale float.

We got a sneak peek of him a few days ago on the Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, but now we have officially seen him in person. Whimsy is such a fun addition to this new nighttime parade!

We knew he could dance and was inspired by vintage Disney animation — specifically, Silly Symphonies. But getting to see him in person was even better!

When you’re watching Disney Starlight, there are a few VERY important things to remember:

This parade goes backwards! It begins on Main Street and ends in Frontierland
Three of the best places to watch are on top of the Train Station on Main Street, in front of Main Street Cinema, and in the Hub with Cinderella Castle in the background
Remember that this parade will draw MASSIVE crowds — grab your great spot at least an hour early
Don’t want to deal with as many crowds? Watch the parade in Frontierland!
Remember the parade takes place TWICE each night — 9 PM and 11 PM — and the Happily Ever After Fireworks happen in between at 10 PM
TONS of people will be exiting the park at one time after the first parade and/or fireworks, so if you want to be one of the first to leave the park and get on transportation back to your hotel or the TTC, you’ll want to watch near the front of the park.
