Epic Universe is a game-changer in many ways. Even though I was there recently, I’m already crossing my fingers I’ll get to go back soon!

While so much impressed me at this new park, what I found I was most shocked by was some of the smaller, less exciting things — the factors that make your park day easier, but have nothing to do with rides or attractions. I loved all the water refills and Coca-Cola freestyle stations everywhere, but in every single restaurant I went into, this addition made me feel SO much more at ease.
I got to dine at a few different spots during my trip, and a feature at many quick service spots made my life WAY easier. You CAN place your order in person, but if it’s open and available (which sometimes, during busier times, ordering in person is the only option available), you can head to a table and scan the QR code on the table to place your order that way.

The QR code will pull up the menu for the restaurant and allow you to place your order through the Universal app. This means that you can take a minute to browse through the menu and see what you’d like, which made a big difference for me. I didn’t feel rushed in deciding what to order, and since I ate at off-peak times, there were plenty of tables to choose from.

This also meant that I didn’t have to talk to a Team Member when ordering, and considering I’m prone to bouts of anxiety when talking to strangers, especially if I’m trying to read the menu, order something, and not take up too much time to be considerate to those around me, that was a welcome reprieve.

I had time to sit down, really look through the menu, read through all the ingredients to ensure I would like the dish (being a supremely picky eater, this is easier said than done a lot of the time), and then place the order when I felt ready. PLUS, since I was already seated, I didn’t have to stress about finding a table, and I got to rest my legs during the whole process, too, which is wildly underrated. Rest each and every time you can!

While you can find this in some of the other Universal Orlando parks as well, especially in the newer restaurants, it’s really highlighted here, and I find it to be extremely helpful and a great way to make the day a little bit easier.
