If there’s one thing Disney fans never run out of, it’s opinions. And recently, we’ve been thinking about a land that used to be the must-see at Disney’s Animal Kingdom—Pandora: The World of Avatar.

When it opened, Pandora blew us away. Floating mountains? Bioluminescent walkways? Flight of Passage?? It was a total game-changer. But now, years later, there’s been a noticeable shift—and not just from us. We wanted to find out if you all felt the same way, so we reached out to you and got your takes, and honestly, you brought up some valid points.
We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “Real talk — do you think Pandora in Animal Kingdom has lost its spark since opening?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!
First up, Gary hit the nail on the head with, “Needs to stay open later. Nighttime is where it’s at. Bring back the drummers as well.”

Honestly? We could not agree more. Nighttime in Pandora used to be one of the most magical experiences you could find in any Disney park. The glowing plants, the ambient sounds, the feeling that you’ve stepped onto another planet—after dark, the land came alive in a totally different way.

The problem is that it doesn’t stay open late enough anymore for guests to fully experience that. These days, if Animal Kingdom closes at 7PM, the lights barely have a chance to come on before you’re getting shuffled toward the exit. That’s a massive miss.
Next, Rachel echoed a sentiment we’ve been feeling for a while: “Yes – though it’s still a beautiful area and I still think it belongs there. They just need to bring back some of the live entertainment aspects.”

Exactly. Pandora still looks amazing—it’s visually stunning, no doubt. But the energy it had when it first opened? That spark came from the street performances, the music, and the Cast Member interactions. Remember the guy in the giant AMP suit? The drummers who got whole crowds clapping along? Those things weren’t just filler—they brought the land to life.

Without that live element, Pandora feels more like a really pretty walkthrough than a vibrant, immersive world.
Dan kept it short and sweet with, “Only because it is not open after dark. So beautiful.”

And he’s right—beauty isn’t the issue. It’s the timing. Imagine building this incredible bioluminescent wonderland and then just… not letting guests experience it in its prime setting. Pandora after dark used to be one of those “you have to see it” recommendations. Now? It’s become kind of a rare treat, depending on the season or crowd level.
Gina brought up something we also miss—“No, but I do wish Pongu Pongu would start serving breakfast again.” That little drink and snack stand used to be a go-to morning stop. Now it opens later in the day, and yeah, we miss those breakfast wraps and a Night Blossom with extra boba at 9AM. Don’t judge.

And then there’s Jon, who’s not totally down on Pandora: “Lost its spark, no. I think it’s still absolutely awesome. Could it use another attraction, probably.”

Also fair! Pandora is still a technical marvel. But it’s hard not to feel like something’s missing—or at least faded. Another ride, a show, or even just a new way to engage with the land could go a long way.
Well, those were just some of your thoughts on whether Pandora in Animal Kingdom has lost its spark since opening, and now we want to hear even more from you! In the meantime, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
