“The Castle Comes Down For Hurricanes!” Disney Adults Are Sharing the Most BIZARRE Things They Used To Believe About Disney World

Listen, Disney World is a huge place that’s been around for over 50 years. And before it was open, Disneyland was open in California, and Walt Disney himself had been making films and television shows under the Disney name since 1923.

Magic Kingdom

Throughout all that time, there have been a lot of rumors and conversation about Disney World that’s been passed between people who have been going for years, those who just started going, and those who are fans from far away. Many of these rumors have been disproved for a long time, but hey, that doesn’t stop some of them from still making their way around! We asked our readers on Facebook to share a Disney World rumor they believed for the longest time before coming to the unfortunate (or sometimes fortunate) realization that they were never true, and honestly…we can’t blame you for a lot of these!

That It’s Only For Kids

We had a lot of our readers say that they believed Disney World was only for kids, until they finally visited for the first time! One of our followers, Phillip, shared:

“Took my wife threatening to go without me for me to realise how wrong I was. I did a lot of apologising to her. Now we own DVC, have been multiple times and I’m about to start working for Disney Cruise Line.”

The Barnstormer

We love hearing about adults experiencing the magic of Disney World, especially when they may have previously believed differently. Disney World truly is for everyone, people of all ages from all over the world, as long as you’re genuinely a theme park person! If you know you’re not a fan of crowds, long days in the potentially hot sun, or big themed areas, then it’s likely most theme parks, especially Disney, aren’t going to be your thing, and that’s okay. But otherwise, if you have the chance to give it a try, we say to go for it!

That It Was Just Another Amusement Park

Other readers of ours shared that, for one reason or another, they believed that Disney World was just like all the other amusement parks out there, like Six Flags parks or Fun Spot parks.

Tigger!

Julie, one of our readers, shared:

“I’m from Montana and no one I knew had ever been so I thought it would be like our state fair but bigger. Kind of like a carnival. I went for a work conference and they had me alone at an overflow hotel instead of All Stars. They moved me to a comped room at Animal Kingdom Lodge. One giraffe sighting and I was sold. Just pulling up to that hotel and I was sold.”

Can you imagine that? Being upgraded to a room at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for no additional cost? We can only imagine what a magical moment that would be for anyone, but especially someone who had never been to Disney World before and didn’t know anything about it. The easy truth is that Disney World is FAR from being like other amusement parks out there — it’s truly one of a kind!

Walt Disney is Cryogenically Frozen and Kept in Disney World

Okay, we’ve heard this one a LOT, and we get why it’s still circulating because it would be WILD. Alas, Walt Disney is NOT frozen under Disney World, or ANYWHERE for that matter.

Walt Disney passed away in 1966 at 65 years old. According to Biography, on December 17th, 1966, two days after his passing, he was cremated and interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. While Walt lives on through the legacy of his parks in a multitude of ways…being cryogenically frozen and waiting for the day technology could bring him back is not one of them.

While Walt was very interested in the future and what was ahead, his daughter Diane wrote in a biography about her father that she doubted Walt knew what cryonics even were. It’s also been further proved by legal documents that Walt truly was cremated and interred at at marked plot in California.
