A MAJOR Virtual Queue Problem JUST Started in Disney World

We just witnessed a big change happen at Disney World.

Over at Magic Kingdom, TRON Lightcycle / Run flipped the script and did away with its virtual queue! It’s a massive change that brings with it an unintended consequence that we’ve got to talk about!

As we were saying, Disney has officially stopped using virtual queues for TRON Lightcycle / Run which on the surface, sounds like a win, right?

There’s a standby line at TRON Lightcycle / Run!

That should mean you’ve got fewer hoops to jump through to ride one of the newest and most popular attractions. But there’s a hidden downside to this change that could make your Disney experience a little more stressful, and it’s all about those other big rides: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

What’s Changing?

So, up until now, TRON Lightcycle / Run used a virtual queue for entry. If you wanted to ride it, you had to wake up at the crack of dawn (7AM), pull out your phone, and pray you snagged a spot in that virtual line. Now, it has officially started utilizing a standby line.

That’s great and all, and we love to see that change finally come, but now that the virtual queue for TRON is gone, all those Disney-goers who were trying to get into that queue will most likely be flooding into the virtual queues for other popular attractions instead.

Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

So, what does this mean for you? Well, let’s say you’re planning to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT or maybe you’re looking forward to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, people used to have to make a choice between three virtual queues — TRON, Cosmic Rewind, or Tiana’s.

Now, with TRON off the table, all that traffic that used to be directed toward TRON is now going straight into the queues for Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s. That means it’s going to be way harder to snag one of those virtual queue spots. It’s kind of like when one freeway closes and all the cars detour onto another road (just chaos).

What Are Your Options?

For starters, don’t panic! There are still ways to ensure you don’t miss out on these attractions.

- Lightning Lane to the Rescue: If you don’t want to deal with the virtual queue stress, you can always fork over the cash for a Lightning Lane pass. It’s definitely a pricey option, but for some people, it’s worth it just to skip all that early morning stress.
- Set Your Alarms: If you’re not into spending extra money (we get it), then you’re going to need to be on your virtual queue game. That means setting those alarms early, making sure your My Disney Experience app is updated, and having “lightning-fast” fingers when the queue opens up at 7AM.
- Be Flexible: If you miss out on your first virtual queue attempt, keep an eye out for the additional release time at 1PM. Disney often drops more virtual queue spots in the afternoon, so you might get lucky.

The Bottom Line

Again, with TRON Lightcycle / Run no longer using a virtual queue, snagging a spot for Cosmic Rewind or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure just got trickier. It’s going to require some extra planning and maybe a bit more patience.
