Alert! A Popular Magic Kingdom Ride Will Be Closed This Week

Magic Kingdom has seen some exciting changes recently.

Fall is here at Magic Kingdom

We have seen fall decorations hit Magic Kingdom recently. Main Street, U.S.A. is now full of pumpkins, scarecrows, and orange bunting. The Halloween collection has also hit the Emporium and there are a lot of items to choose from. Now, there is one more change happening this week that you need to take note of.

In July, it was announced that the Haunted Mansion would be closed from August 7th to August 9th. According to Disney, this is for routine refurbishment. We see these scheduled refurbishments pretty regularly across the parks, but this one, in particular, has us speculating.

As you may know, Disney officially confirmed during the D23 Expo last year that the Haunted Mansion in Disney World would be getting the Hatbox Ghost (!!). While they didn’t specify exactly when this update would happen, they did say that we could expect him to materialize in 2023.

Disney announced that the Hatbox Ghost will appear as the Doom Buggies go by the Endless Hallway (with the floating candelabra) before guests make their way deeper into the mansion. This would make him the first ghost riders will see in Haunted Mansion.

Disney also announced that guests will soon see temporary barriers inside Haunted Mansion at that location as they get ready for the Hatbox Ghost to materialize. Disney did NOT reveal a date for the Hatbox Ghost’s appearance, but it seems like it could be soon.
