It’s the truth, it’s actual….we know ONE LAST place to get your Splash Mountain thrills!

Disneyland closed Splash Mountain in May 2023 and just before that, the Disney World version of the ride closed. If waiting to take a plunge down that ginormous drop once it’s transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure feels too long, there is one last place you can visit to ride Splash Mountain!
Some people might not realize that when Disney builds a ride or attraction sometimes that ends up being copied (exact dupes in some cases) into another park. Most of the time this happens with attractions internationally or vice versa. We’ve seen this most recently happen with TRON Lightcycle / Run in Disney World which is a copy of the ride in Shanghai Disneyland…

… and there are plans to copy elements from Frozen Ever After which debuted in EPCOT…

…and add it to the World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. This was also done in a similar fashion after a few changes to other attractions between Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida with rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and even Splash Mountain itself.

Although the ride name and theming were the same for Splash Mountain, the logs that served as the ride vehicles differed just a bit between the different parks. There is still ONE version of the ride that doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon, but it might take you a while to get there.

There is still one surviving version of Splash Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland that is still in full operation. If you’re in the United States it might take you some time and a bit more of a budget to get out to Tokyo, but if you’re a huge Splash Mountain fan, it could be well worth the investment to take a few more plunges down a familiar flume.

A quick check of the Tokyo Disney Resort page lists a special summertime offering for this attraction where guests can enjoy being soaked while riding. “From July 4 through September 6, 2023, a special version of Splash Mountain will be offered where Guests can enjoy getting soaked.” This version of Splash Mountain seems to be the perfect blend of both U.S. versions since theirs is stationed in Critter Country — just like in Disneyland — and each ride boat can hold up to 8 people — similar to the larger boats used at Disney World.

Of course, there will be a few differences to get used to when riding there, mainly that you might be humming the narration to yourself at times since it will be in both Japanese and English at certain parts.
So if you really just can’t get enough of Splash Mountain then Tokyo Disneyland is going to be your closest and only option going forward. As always, stay tuned with us at AllEars for the latest in Disney park updates!
