After Hurricane Ian made a big impact on the state earlier this year, Florida is now preparing for the arrival of Tropical Storm Nicole.
Currently, hurricane warnings are in place for parts of the eastern coast, and Disney World’s two counties (Orange and Osceola Counties) are under a tropical storm warning. We’ve already seen Park Pass reservations suspended for later in the week, with closures announced for several hotels and experiences around the parks. And now, the Disney World website is showing no available hotel reservations for this week.
As people prepare for Tropical Storm Nicole in Florida, Disney World has begun taking some precautions in advance. Right now, there is no Disney World Resort hotel availability for this week.
While it is, of course, possible that all Disney World Resort hotel rooms are booked (it is a holiday weekend, after all), this is something we’ve seen done in the past ahead of a major storm. Prior to Hurricane Ian, we saw hotel availability disappear for the days leading up to its arrival.
Since the area is under a tropical storm warning, it’s also important to note that Disney World hotels are also booked by many locals, as the resort is considered a safe place to be.
We did check for the availability for next week and found plenty available. Currently, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios are all expected to remain open, but we have seen several hotel areas and Typhoon Lagoon water park announce closures for later this week.
Disney World theme parks shut down for Hurricane Ian earlier this year, and we could see the same happen if Subtropical Storm Nicole poses a significant threat to guest and employee safety. To learn more about what happens in Disney World during a hurricane, check out these links:
