The Disney Cruise Line continues to roll out big news, even though sailings continue to be pushed back.

Still, things are looking up with the huge announcements about the upcoming Disney Wish with its rooms, unique dining experiences, one-of-a-kind entertainment, and more! But, something else new may also be in the works for the Disney Cruise Line next year, too.
The Orlando Sentinel has reported that the Disney Cruise Line is looking to bring a port to Fort Lauderdale year-round, starting in 2022. The cruise line has already requested an agreement with Port Everglades as they wait for Broward County to approve it.

If the deal goes through, Fort Lauderdale would be the first year-round ship outside of Port Canaveral where Disney Cruise Line has its headquarters. Close by, the Disney Cruise Line has sailed seasonally from Port Miami, but the contract ends in 2024.

Previously, Disney has only docked at Port Everglades during storms, but the agreement between the cruise line and the port states that the ship would carry about 3,500 people. The port would benefit Broward County as it brought in more tourism, generating more jobs as well as additional state and local tax dollars in the South Florida city. The Broward County Commission will discuss the Disney Cruise Line and Port Everglades deal during its meeting on May 18th.

Jonathan Daniels, the chief executive and port director at Port Everglades, has stated, “Adding Disney Cruise Line to the Port Everglades fleet, along with the Royal Caribbean Group and Carnival Corporation, would diversify our portfolio and create a little more magic for our guests and the community.”

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on additional details about future Disney Cruises and ports coming soon. In the meantime, stay tuned with All Ears for the latest Disney news!
