We spotted an interesting building permit from Disney today!

As you might have heard the Jungle Cruise in both Disney World and Disneyland is getting reworked with a few new scenes and changes. The work is expected for this year but we haven’t had any hints as to when — until now.
We found a building permit today for the Jungle Cruise ride building that calls for “modifications and enhancements to include demo and installation of structural support, hardscapes, [and] electrical.” Wow!

That sounds like pretty big work! Permits certainly tend to pique our interest when they call for demolition. The scope of this work could have something to do with the upcoming rework of the attraction.

The refurbishment on Jungle Cruise will add a number of scenes featuring the skipper character and remove some scenes that feature negative depictions. Disney hasn’t made clear how extensive the work will be, but we do know the attraction will still have the same style and jokes that we know and love.

This permit is a Notice of Commencement which is required when work is about to begin. This might mean that we’ll see construction kick-off on the Jungle Cruise in the next few weeks.

It also has an expiration date of late January 2022. This is certainly interesting! That means that the structural changes will be complete by January. If this does have to do with the refurbishment, that would be a pretty big step towards the new version of the ride being complete.

We’ll keep an eye on the Jungle Cruise while we’re in the parks. As always, stay tuned to AllEars to make sure you’re in the loop!
