2020 has been a year of MANY things, but for film buffs, this has been the year of delayed theatrical releases. So far this year, we have seen major blockbusters be significantly pushed back, including the live action remake of Mulan, which was delayed for over five months before it was ultimately released on Disney+ September 4th.

As we look ahead to the rest of 2020 and beyond, additional films are looking at potential delays, despite the fact that major movie theater chains nationwide like AMC are beginning to reopen.
According to Deadline, the upcoming Warner Bros film Wonder Woman 1984 may be looking at a possible delay from its currently scheduled October 2nd release date. If confirmed, it could be delayed until sometime in November of December of this year.

Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t the only film rumored to be facing a delay in its theatrical release. The upcoming, highly anticipated Marvel film Black Widow may be delayed again, although Disney has yet to confirm this. Black Widow is currently scheduled to be released on November 6th.

That’s not all: the next film in the Pixar lineup, Soul, may face a similar fate as Mulan. Soul has already been delayed once, from its original June 2020 release date to November 20th. Could Soul instead head straight to Disney+, as Mulan did? Only time will tell.

Disney is already looking pretty far ahead in terms of their upcoming release dates. Their 2023 theatrical release timeline was recently unveiled, reassuring movie-goers that despite the current situation, there will still be many future opportunities to return to the theaters.
