We’ve been talking about the construction all around Disney World for years now, just due to the fact that there’s essentially almost always something going on around the resort.

EPCOT is currently the park with the least amount of construction, as it’s the only park not getting an entirely new land at the moment, but that doesn’t mean there’s NO construction happening. There are small projects happening, and another one has just been added to the list, though Disney didn’t utter a word about it.
Over in the Germany Pavilion in World Showcase, the Volkskunst Shop has closed quietly for refurbishment. This store is known for those elaborate, incredible coo-coo clocks, as well as German sweets. We also find it interesting that the page for the shop on the Disney World website currently isn’t able to be accessed.

When we spoke to a Cast Member, we were told that the closure is so Disney can work on the bathrooms located right backstage. Interestingly enough, a few of our reporters have noticed that this store often has an unpleasant smell, similar to sewage, at times, and while we originally thought it was the wood the building was made out of, hearing this, we’re thinking it could be possible that it’s actually the unseen bathrooms that may have been causing the issue.

The only section of the store that’s open is the section that sells Christmas decor that you usually exit through, but it’s possible we could also see that portion close in the future as well. The Cast Member we spoke to also mentioned that when things get busier in the parks, they plan on reopening Das Teddybar, which is HUGE news. This spot hasn’t been open since 2020 except as an Annual Passholder meet and greet location last year, so it potentially reopening is a big deal.

Speaking of bathrooms being closed, Disney is also currently working on the public restrooms in Germany as well, so you’ll need to head to another pavilion. At this time, Disney hasn’t released a timeline as to how long they’ll be closed, but we’ll keep a close eye out.

We just love eating at the Germany Bier Garten. The food is wonderful and we always enjoy the entertainment. With my husband being of German descent, he always enjoys when they say his name with the German accent.
