5 Rules Introverted Disney Adults Must Follow at Orlando Airport

If you’re an introvert, going to the airport can be a NIGHTMARE.

Orlando International Airport

And the Orlando International Airport? It can often be worse than other airports since it’s filled with theme park tourists day and night. So today, we’re sharing our best travel hacks for those who want a little more peace, quiet, and alone time.

Headphones. Always headphones.

Rule #1: wear headphones all the time, even when you’re not listening to anything. If you want to avoid having extraneous conversations, this is the easiest way to say “I want some alone time” without coming off as rude.

We generally recommend removing headphones or earbuds when speaking with employees or staff, just to be polite and ensure you hear instructions correctly, but when sitting on the plane, at the gate, or at a restaurant? That’s free game!

TSA PreCheck or MCO Reserve

If you’re introverted, it probably doesn’t sound very fun to stand in a crowded line, being herded like cattle through TSA. Save yourself some stress and claustrophobia by planning in advance. TSA PreCheck is probably worth purchasing if you travel frequently, and it usually gets you a wait of 10 minutes or less when going through security.

And at the Orlando International Airport, there’s a service called MCO Reserve, where you can reserve a time in advance to go through security, so you have minimal wait. You’ll need to have your flight info, and it’s subject to availability, but it doesn’t cost you anything! That’s right, it’s FREE.

Airline Lounge Day Pass

If you’re planning to be in the airport for a few hours before your flight or you have a hefty layover, a day pass to one of the lounges could be the way to go. In Terminal A and in Terminal B, you’ll find locations of The Club lounge, while in Terminal C, you have the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Day passes can be purchased for these locations as long as there’s availability. Prices may vary depending on when you visit, but these places typically offer some complimentary eats, a comfy place to sit, and some peace and quiet.

Sit at an Empty Gate to Wait

If an airport lounge isn’t in the budget, our other recommendation is FREE. You can often find an empty gate with no upcoming flight, and getting the chance to sit down where there aren’t people sitting on either side of you is a luxury.

Just make sure that if you go this route, you keep a close eye on the time and listen out for the airport announcements. You don’t want to miss your flight’s boarding!

Mobile Order Your Food

Last but not least, we’re going to recommend that you try to mobile order your food when you have the chance! Some fast food restaurants in the airport offer mobile ordering through their individual apps (like Starbucks), but others can be found by using the Grab app.
