What I Wish I’d Left on the Shelf at Disney World

When it comes to shopping, there are so many Disney items that we are obsessed with!

Giant Stitch Plush

We have been going to the Disney parks since 1999, so you can already guess that our souvenir collection is extensive and beloved! That being said, our entire team agrees there are a few items that we really wish we had left on the shelf. We’re here to share our buyer’s remorse so you won’t have any!

We can’t believe that we’re sharing this, but it’s true that there are some Disney souvenirs we wish we hadn’t bought. There are plenty of reasons for our regret, but if you see us mention something you love, that’s a-okay! It’s your money, so we won’t judge, but there are a few things we might think twice about, starting with Minnie Ears.

Minnie Mouse Ears!

We know, this almost feels wrong to type, but members of our team have some serious buyer’s remorse when it comes to their Mouse Ear Headbands. One of our editors finally admitted that she only has a few pairs (and she emphasized that they’re super cute), but to be honest, she finds them impractical to actually wear! After a few hours, they start to create headaches for a lot of wearers plus it can feel impossible to wear them with sunglasses. A lot of our team LOVES this accessory, but it definitely isn’t for everyone.

Next on the regret list is almost any Disney Popcorn Bucket. We know, we LOVE them too, but once the trip is over — what do you do with it?

There are SO many good, creative buckets, and we will admit our collection is LARGE. That being said, they mainly collect dust on our shelves, and we don’t use them after our trip has ended. You can absolutely bring them back, although they are technically only refillable during the length of your stay. If you love them as decoration, that’s amazing! For us, it just feels like a silly purchase after the Disney magic wears off.

Next up, we’re coming for our Giant Stitch Plush. There are tons of massive plushes in the parks, and they almost emit some kind of glow that draws you right to them.

We are so sorry, Stitch!

They call to you like a siren in the ocean, saying, “Buy me! Take me home!” Well, we listened, and now we just awkwardly stare at each other like it’s the end of The Graduate. We love our giant plushes; they’re so fluffy and fun to cuddle with, but do we decorate with them? We don’t want to get rid of them, but they just take up a lot of space in our closets at this point.

So many Giant Plushes!

Finally, we are talking about our beloved Droids from Galaxy’s Edge. If you’ve ever been to Disney World or Disneyland, you might have stopped by the Star Wars sections of the parks and noticed the Droid Depot. Here you can build your very own droid that you can interact with and make your own Star Wars movie with.

While these buildable souvenirs aren’t a real, true regret, it’s time to admit we don’t use this iconic merchandise at home. One of our writers said he doesn’t fully regret the purchase, but he hasn’t touched it in nearly 6 years. It’s a very cool decoration or big paper weight, but most of the time, people aren’t interacting with it at home. That’s tough to swallow for $129.99 per droid unit.

You can get a carrying backpack for them!

We will be honest, we’re probably going to keep buying those Disney souvenirs that speak to us…even if it sometimes leads to regret. We share all of these items to say that sometimes it can be good to think twice before pulling out your wallet in the Disney parks. Be sure to keep following AllEars for more honest Disney reviews, updates, and more!
