Our AllEars team is in Disney World every day, and we will be the first to tell you that as Disney World changes, so do our tips! As time passes, some of our own tips become outdated, so here are the ones to avoid following now.

Ride systems change, crowd patterns shift, new tools roll out, and even entire lands can disappear or transform. That means advice that worked perfectly a year ago, or even a few months ago, might actually slow you down now. As Disney World continues to evolve, some once-popular strategies have officially become outdated. So before you plan your next park day, here are five outdated Disney World tips you’ll want to avoid and why following them could be holding you back.
1. “Wait Until Night to Ride the Major Attractions.”
For years, waiting until closer to the park’s closing was the solid strategy for riding headliner rides with lower waits, but that advice just doesn’t hold up anymore, especially for attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Lately, end-of-night crowds for these rides can be some of the heaviest of the entire day, thanks to everyone having the same idea and limited ride capacity near closing. Instead of gambling on late-night luck, a better strategy now is to lock in a Lightning Lane Single Pass if these attractions are must-dos. That way, you can use those final park hours to enjoy attractions that actually see lighter waits at night, soak in the atmosphere, or grab snacks without feeling rushed.

2. “You Don’t Need Lightning Lane Multi Pass at EPCOT.”
For a while, during the Test Track renovation, EPCOT was the park where we confidently told guests to skip Lightning Lane Multi Pass, but that advice is officially outdated. With Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track all maintaining high standby waits throughout the day, Lightning Lane Multi Pass can now be a huge time-saver if you’re hoping to ride two or more Tier 1 attractions.
A smart approach is to rope drop one of them, book another with Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and then decide if you want to brave standby for the third. It’s especially helpful during festival seasons when you’d rather be eating, shopping, and enjoying entertainment instead of standing in lines. That said, if you only care about one Tier 1 ride, you can still comfortably skip Lightning Lane Multi Pass and save that money.

3. “Disney’s Animal Kingdom Is Not a Half-Day Park.”
Fans of Disney’s Animal Kingdom have long protested that this is not a “half-day park” as many others have said. But with DinoLand U.S.A. closing officially on February 2nd, that reality is changing fast. While there’s still plenty to love about this park, the ride lineup is shrinking, making it harder to fill an entire day without re-riding attractions.
Because of this, many guests may find Animal Kingdom works better as a half-day park in 2026. A great alternative is heading to Disney Springs afterward for shopping and dining, or intentionally using your Animal Kingdom day to slow down and recharge for the rest of your trip.

4. “’ Ohana Is the Best Meal at Disney World.”
Once upon a time, ’Ohana was nearly untouchable when it came to Disney World dining recommendations, but that reputation hasn’t fully kept up with recent changes. While many guests still love it, others feel the food and experience aren’t quite what they used to be, especially considering the difficulty of securing a reservation.
If you’re craving those same Polynesian-inspired flavors, there’s a fantastic alternative: Tambu Lounge. You can find similar menu items (and even some of the same dishes) without committing to a full sit-down meal. If you can snag a spot, Tambu Lounge offers a more relaxed, flexible way to enjoy the vibe and flavors without the pressure of a hard-to-get reservation.

5. “You Need to Maximize Every Single Minute of Your Trip.”
It’s easy to feel like every second at Disney World needs to be perfectly optimized, but this mindset often leads straight to burnout. Going full throttle might feel doable the first few days of vacation, but by Day 3, exhaustion can hit hard, especially for families.
The smarter approach now is intentionally building in breaks and downtime. Head back to your hotel for a midday rest, take a slower afternoon at Disney Springs, or seek out quiet corners of the parks to decompress. These moments of rest don’t waste time, but they actually help everyone enjoy the rest of the trip more, with better moods and more energy for the experiences that really matter.

4 Disney World Scams We Avoid at ALL COSTS
What is a Disney tip you used to use that is now outdated? Share with us in the comments!

Unfortunately, due to the exorbitantly high price of admission, you feel like you must maximize every second to justify the cost.
We are not thrill ride people but still manage to fill a day at Animal Kingdom. Early for breakfast from the Kusifari window, ride the Safari, train to Conservation center to take the drawing class and enjoy the displays and CMs,back to walk animal trails and visit the aviary, have lunch at Flametree or Satuli, then attend the big shows and enjoy the Na’vi River ride. Shop a little, grab a snack,or maybe stay for dinner. There are performers and characters all over the park too. Just take time to soak up the atmosphere without the usual rush.
Completely disagree with #2. Lightning lanes are not a necessity! All you need to do is rope drop and use a proven touring plan that can show you in what order to experience attractions with a minimal wait.
