Disney World is ever-changing! The theme parks, hotels, and more are getting updates at a rate we’ve not seen in years.
The theme parks are getting some massive overhauls, and a new hotel is being built as we speak. That hotel is going to be called Lakeshore Lodge, and thanks to new construction photos, we’ve spotted something SUPER exciting.
Thanks to @bioreconstruct, we have gotten a really good look at Lakeshore Lodge’s big construction updates. The aerial photos of the new hotel have given us a good look at the pool area coming to the resort, confirming what all of us kids at heart have been longing for… a lazy river!
The lazy river looks to be a pretty big size, which will be perfect for us when it’s time to relax between park days. It looks like it’s right next to a large pool area, so we can splash the summers away once the new hotel opens.
These photos were shared earlier in December 2025, but we still feel like this pool news isn’t receiving the love that it should. That’s why we’re here to shout from the rooftops about it! Disney has yet to formally confirm the lazy river, but we have a pretty good feeling about this one! Disney World pools actually tend to gather a fan base if you can believe it. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club is home to Stormalong Bay pool, which literally has a fandom behind it. A good pool can make or break your hotel stay for a lot of vacationers.
Lakeshore Lodge is located in the Magic Kingdom resort area near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge and Campsite. Disney first announced this hotel way back in 2018 (it hurt us to write “way back” by the way), but the name was originally Reflections — A Lakeside Lodge. In 2020, it became clear that the hotel project had been shelved until they confirmed the project was back on, this time under the name Lakeshore Lodge.
The hotel is being built on the property previously occupied by Disney’s River Country water park! It’s inspired by nature and its influence on Disney artists over the decades. In Disney’s latest concept art, you can see lots of greenery as well as several Disney characters like Pochanotas.
If you keep your eyes peeled, you can even see characters like Miko, Todd, Bambi, and more! It looks so serene and welcoming.
They’ve even given us a sneak peek into the rooms at the hotel, which feature a lot of earth tones and more Disney critters.
Disney has given us several looks at concept art throughout the resort, but overall, they’ve remained pretty tight-lipped on the details. It’s going to be a Disney Vacation Club resort, but even non-DVC members can stay here. We’re expecting it to be a deluxe resort, which many of the same perks.
We know that the hotel is expected to open sometime in 2027, but we’re still eagerly awaiting a confirmed date. This spot will is sure to have several dining and shopping locations as well; however, Disney has yet to share the details. We can’t wait to report on more news (and pool details!) as they come.
